Open Records Request
Open Records Request
The Special Prosecution Unit, as a governmental body, has a duty to provide the public with information. However, state law provides for non-disclosure of some things, often including prosecutors’ files. Additionally, SPU normally cannot provide things created by other state agencies, even if they are in our custody. When we receive your request, we will comply with the law but you may not receive what you request.
To make an official request, fill in this form at https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/files/divisions/open-government/Public-Information-Request-Form-10-01-19.pdf and email it to recordsrequest@sputexas.org or mail to:

Consider requesting information from other agencies.
Documents filed in court cases are normally public records. For copies of filed documents, you should contact the district clerk or county clerk in the county of the alleged offense. Many clerks have websites that provide for online searches and most clerks allow on-site inquiries.
